BC Wines-Canada
Just returned from Victoria, BC and wow do they have some great wines. I
was amazed. Came back to USA and cannot find any. What a shame. Tried some Rieslings that were excellent, Sparkling as well as Pinot Noir. No notes, Sorry. Re, Dick |

Icewine seems to be our main export. A couple of the big boys (Mission Hill & Calona) do export to the USA, unfortunately they represent the MOST wine produced in BC, not the best. Keep in mind, there's only 5000ha under vine in BC. A drop in the bucket when compared to most other wine producing regions. Glad you enjoyed what our humble little province has to offer... Do you remember which producers you were trying? En Vino Veritas Mathew |

On the sparkling wine is was a Sumac Ridge...it was very nice.
Reisling was Mt. Boucherie Estate. The Pinot Noir was Inniskillin Okanigan BC. Very nice and reasonable price. Brought a little of each home with me. Also brought a few Ice Wines to try but did not have. Had the above with Dinner at the Harold Street Cafe. It was great food also. It was great food also. Dick: It's actually 'Herald' St. Cafe, an old freind of mine owns & runs it, Paul Bell. Good spot, used to be my favorite date restaurant when I lived in Vic. Sumac 'Stellar Jay Brut' is a nice one, Harry McWaters knows what he's doing. The Mt. Boucharie Riesling is OUTSTANDING, allready sold out... I'm down to my last 2 bottles @ work. Mt. Boucharie has really come into it's own in the last few years. If you get a chance, check out their Syrah. Inniskillin Pn has been a benchmark wine in BC for a while, nice stuff. Glad you enjoyed your BC experience. Cheers Mathew |

Enjoyed is an understatement. Really nice and really reasonable. I wish I
could buy in the USA but it is a reason to go back for regular visits. Here are the names of the desert and ice wines I bought...tell me how I did
cause I have not tried and in fact...have never had any icewines. Paradise Ranch 2000 Icewine-Merlot Quails Gate 2000 Riesling Ice Wine Saint Vincent Domaine Combret 2000 Chardonnay Icewine Ortega (Fraser Valley) Botrys Affected 1997 Mission Hill Late Harvest Riesling One bottle each of these is all I got to try.
