Default Looking for a special champagne for my wedding

Could anyone recommend a good vintage champagne for my wedding in July.
Nothing outrageously expensive, but of high quality. Maybe the $50 - $100
range. Thanks for your help.

High Quaslity in champagne does not need vintage. In fact most champagnes
are NV a blend of the wines of several years. Any of the Major house will
have somthing available in the US widely for around $30-40. Taitinger La
Francaise, Perrier Jouet, Ponsardin Veuve Cliquot are but three.

If you reside in the USA you can also get great stuff for much less.

Example

Roederer Anderson Valley for about $19.00
Gruet of Albequerque, New Mexico is great. They have a 1997 late bottling
vitnage for about $40 each. Great Stuff.

My personal favorite is Krug NV at about $100-129.

Me and my girlfriend would go for the Billecart-Salmon Brut Rose. It's
absolutely fantastic. It costs around $50 here in the Netherlands. We
often try other cuvee's but keep on coming back to this one. It's like
pure love captured in bubbles

If you're not interested in Rose champagne take a look at Champagnes of
Gosset. Even the simplest cuvee is wonderful.

If you're interested in something domestic then take a look at
Schramsberg. They make some awesome sparkling wines and blow many
Champagnes away. They can even help you out with special "wedding
bottles" where you can let them engrave the bottle with your own
personal message.

Bollinger Grand Annee '96 is reputed to be pretty good, although I
haven't broken into my (small) stash for a taste yet. It's in my area
for $80.

For my US dollar, it would be Pol Roger NV. Around $30 a bottle, it's
under your budget. Maybe find four or five suggestions made by the
list and have a tasting with your fiance and family. Good Luck!!

cheers,

If you are in the States, I would highly recommend calling Gary Westby
at K&L Wines (you can find K&L online) He is their Champagne
specialist and finds all sorts of amazing boutique Champagnes. You
could have something totally unique and totally fantastic.

If you can find the Veuve Clicquot Reserve Brut or Rose Reserve in the 1996
vintage, they are both excellent and from the best champagne vintage since
at least 1990. I have had both recently and they are drinking remarkably
well. Pol Roger is also a good choice, but I would try and find a vintage
dated rather than NV.

Funny, many of the Champaigne I have enjoyed were NV or MV to be more
accurate.

Krug
Veuve Cliquot
Roderer Anderson
Moet & Chandon France

I have enjoyed some vintage but drink mostly NV or MV.

For a wedding where 1/2 the people take one sip and no more why not serve a
moderate and then get the good stuff for the honeymoon suite:-)
