Default why the unpopularity of vin doux natural Muscats?

Hi all,

Just wondering why these wines are so difficult to find in the US? I
seem to be able to find the occasional Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise,
and even more rarely a Muscat Rivesaltes...but no Frontignan, Lunel,
Mireval or St.Jean de Minervois, very unfortunately..

When we were in the Languedoc last year we had so many nice ones and
now,as a matter of course whenever I come across a bottle or see it on
a menu I snap it up (some are great, some not so). I find that for a
dessert wine just to have as an everyday type thing, these are great
because of their affordability and general quality. Just wondering if
anyone has any comments or insight as to why these are not more
popular...Just think they should be.

Sweet wines are not trendy in the US. Many Americans associate them with cheap
Concord based wines served at communion or drunk by kids.Only the very famous
areas are common in the US, eg Sauternes, Rhine, Moselle, or Port.
