[TN] Cono Sur Viognier
Today was the third day in a row of blistering hot weather, with a
temperature of 94°F at 7 pm. Jean and Andrew came home from his soccer practice in need of cooling, refreshment and dinner. Jean thought that a chilled white wine was what was called for, so I opened a bottle that I'd recently bought locally on the strength of an endorsement from George Heritier of Gang of Pour. So, with a simple dinner of salad and leftover steak, I opened: 2008 Cono Sur Viognier ($8.99) nose: minerals, white peaches and a floral note palate: modest acidity, clean fruit, medium body, minerals At the price paid, this is a definite QPR winner.
