2001 Fontodi Chianti Classico

I spending my last weekend in Ohio at my farm before heading to Marco
Island Florida until March so I made a large pot of marinara sauce
with meatballs and served my all male group a hearty meal of spaghetti
and meatballs paired with 2001 Fontodi Chianti Classico. The wine was
showing a slight brick color at the rim of an otherwise dark reddish
purple glass. The nose was cedar box and black cherry with a touch of
herb. The wine was fruity on the palate with plenty of cherry,
blackberry and red currant. The tannins were still firm yet smooth
and there was enough acidity to identify it as Italian. I bought this
wine for about $10 and was pleased with the QPR since five of us drank
four bottles. Solid "B"

Great price for the Fontodi, even if before the dollar slid.
The 3 Fs rule.
