Default 1991 Diamond Creek 1998 La Chapelle

Opened last night with an Allen Brothers standing rib roast 1991
Diamond Creek Volcanic Hill-still quite dark purple with no hint of
age. Tight nose of graphite and black fruits. Really classic
cabernet on the palate with cassis, black cherry, roasted coffee and
an earthy minerality. Still quite tannic but with tons of fruit this
wine will easily last another 20 years. 1998 Jaboulet Hermitage La
Chapelle-lighter red with a medium body. Sweet red cherry notes on
the nose with a bit of smoke. High toned sweet red fruit on the
palate a bit of beef and red beet the wine was showing a touch of age
but the tannins were still firm but fine grained. Both wines were
tasty.
