Default TN: Schiava, Jasnieres

Last night we went to the penultimate park concert of the summer. A
pheasant/pork terrine from d'Artagnan, cheeses, salami, salads, and
broccoli rabe. There was also a frozen marrow bone, as we decided to
have the hound along (playdate wth a Dachshund). I carried along
leftover Vouvray, plus a pink, the 2007 Vivallis Schiava Rose. Dry,
light, sweet cherry fruit. A little herbal note on the finish. That
finish, however, is quite short, and there's little depth here. It
was a great cool (for summer) night, and I might have liked this a
bit more if it had been scorching. As it was, I found it a tad
lacking. Fred commented on the dark color for a rose- it's actually as
dark as many of the supposed red Schiavas I have seen. B-/C+

WOTN was brought by Fred, the 2004 Benedicte de Rycke "Cuvee Louise"
Jasnieres. Never heard of this producer,but this was really nice.
Waxy/wooly Chenin nose, with some mineral and tropical fruit. On
palate sharp but lovely citrus fruit, a light saline note, quite
minerally on finish. Some flowers and more waxy notes as it develops.
High acids, bright, tasty. B+

Fun nights with friends. Challenging to try and eat with Basset on
our level, but between the bone, her little friend, and tweens who
wanted to walk her, we survived without losing terrine or salami. Not
to jinx the last concert, but so far weather has been lovely and not
too warm every Wed we went to park this summer.

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent
wine, B a good wine, C mediocre. Anything below C means I wouldn't
drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no
promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
