TN Brauneberger Juffer Auslese 1975, Wwe. Dr. H. Thanish
Brauneberger wines seemed to have been a bit more popular than now in
the late 1880s when many, especially in the UK, considered them to be some of the best Mosels. This bottle of Brauneberger Juffer Auslese 1975, Weingut Wwe. Dr. H. Thanish, A.P. Nr. 2 576 242 277 (10% alcohol on importer's tag) had been properly stored since release and had a very hig neck fill. The 1975s were better in the Mosel than in some other regions, and are rather classic. They tend to be more lile the 1971s than the ultra-rich, tropical 1976s. The wine is a light yellow. It has only a bit of aged Riesling petrol character. The wine is quite fresh and likely can hold well many more years. The sweetness is moderate and well balanced by clean acidity. There is very good fruit of a light-fleshed fruit nature, and a rather intense bouquet. There also is some floral character. There only is a moderate amount of honey character. The grapes appear to have been very ripe, but not extremely overripe as for some 1976s. This wine would not be as difficult to match with food as some of the tropical, honey-drenched 1976 auslesen which often can pass as a BA by taste. |
