I love Imam bayildi, too -- but the story I know is, the Imam fainted
because his wife had been trying for months to concoct a recipe that
would, you know, turn him on. She'd tried all kinds of dishes, but the
Imam (and keep in mind, this was hundreds of years before Viagra!)
still couldn't get his mojo going. . . until she came up with this
sensuous eggplant dish. And it was so delicious, it knocked him right
out! Poor Mrs. Imam. . . we can only hope that later, when he came to,
he made it up to her.
