heads up: another wife-swapping show featuring vegans tonight

Tonight on ABC:

A backwoods, hunting mom whose motto is "Kill it and grill it"
swaps places with an animal activist mother who eats only raw
food and has a vegan pet cat.

This will be the second consecutive week of the show featuring leftwing
marginals. A "freegan" family appeared in last week's episode --
complete with dumpster diving and begging for morsels.

I just saw the first 5 minutes and
had to change the channel. She's
a complete kook, and not
representitive of most vegans.
Sun gazing indeed.

Look, poor Bobbi has to go protest for animal rights. Instead of cook,
clean, etc.

Cool. Kaboom! Dinner's ready.

Lesley posted a link about the dude from India Jackie just mentioned.
Lesley thought it was worth a shot. Hahahaha!

And ****, what a pantywaist -- this Harold dude is a raw-vegan because
of that wicked sun-gazing bitch. What have I told you about veganism and
authoritarian coercion. Here's yet more proof for ya.

Question -- have you forced your cat to adopt a veg-n diet yet? If not,
how many times have you considered it?

The vegan kooks' cat "Tiger" looks unhealthy (so do the vegans).

Correct. Now the sun-gazing bitch is forcing veganism on everyone else
and going to make the family join her in protesting meat.

Cats are obligate carnivores (they need taurine). Forcing a "vegan"
diet on a cat is cruelty to animals.

I think Jackie's cruelty to her husband is an extension of that she
shows her cat. Both the husband and the cat are her emasculated pawns.
Neither would be vegan were it not for her insufferable mistreatment of
them both.

And now Bobbi is calling her on it, at least her mistreatment and lack
of communication with Harold. Hopefully that guy'll grow a set and stand
up to the loony old witch.

Yet? No. My cat is meant by
his physiology to be carnivorous.
I would never try to turn him vegan.

The physiology argument is both a non sequitur and a red herring --
you're a vegan "wannabe" even though your physiology is that of an
omnivore. There's no physiological reason for you to abstain completely
from meat, dairy, or eggs, nor is there a physiological reason for you
to avoid ingredients that *might* be derived from animals found on lists
on veg-n websites. Your reasons for avoiding meat, dairy, eggs, or even
possible derivative ingredients are *political* in nature; they are PART
OF THE VEGAN *FIGHT* and have nothing whatsoever to do with health or
physiology.

Well, yes.. that is of course true, but, possibly not "in the

The aesthetic reason is completely different. As for health, I don't
read through lists of ingredients looking for micrograms of animal parts
to excise from my diet. I've admitted that some of the foods I
occasionally eat have animal parts in them -- e.g., egg whites in
pseudo-burgers. Egg whites aren't deleterious to good health. Neither is
fish oil in omega-3 supplements (and I'm taking those now).

Maybe so. While she's at it, maybe Pearl can conjure up a brain for Ricky.
This is sounding more and more like the Wizard of Oz...

Actually, I'm thinking of doing the same thing. The latest issue of Men's
Health magazine has an article on omega-3s. They confirm all the things that
we had discussed before. Additionally, they say that the conversion of ALA
(from plants, etc.) into EPA and DHA by the liver is very inefficient - on
the order of 5% to 15%. Fish oil contains ALA directly.

I've also been looking at purslane. It's a "weed" that contains a lot of
omega-3 fatty acid. They say it grows all over the place but I don't recall
seeing it - even as much as I'm around disturbed areas where it is said to
grow. I've got a hillside that's difficult to landscape so maybe I'll sow
some purslane seeds there next spring. They need moisture to germinate, but
once established it can tolerate drought conditions - perfect for my region.
