King of fruits prime attraction in fruit fest

Out of the 67 verities of mangoes displayed at the first-
ever Fruit Festival-2012 in the State at the Exhibition
Ground here, Bombay Green, Gulabkhas, Himasagar, Keshar,
Swarna Rekha, Chausa are attracting the visitors most.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who inaugurated the show
on Saturday on the eve of the Savitri festival on Sunday,
was happy to see such large varieties of fruits,
especially mangoes at the festival organised by the
Directorate of Horticulture.

With the prices of fruits having skyrocketed due to the
Savitri festival, a large number of visitors thronged the
show for purchase of fruits at Government-fixed rates.

There are 75 stalls exhibiting mangoes, bananas,
pineapples, Bels, oranges, jackfruits, date-palms,
guavas, citruses, litchis and palm fruits.
