Default Review: Samples of 3 Green Teas from Adagio

The samples are of Apricot Green, Earl Grey Green, and Choral Pi Lo
Chun/Green Snail Spring.

1. Apricot Green - Steeped 1 tsp. in 8 oz at 160°F for 2-1/2 min. was too
weak for me. For 3 min. was good - this is a gentle tea with mild apricot
aroma and flavoring. There were two stems in the tsp. of dry leaf - nothing,
IMO, to get dismayed about.

2. Earl Grey Green - Steeped 1 tsp. in 8 oz at 160°F for 2-1/2 min. yielded
weak tea with a pronounced bergamot scent. For 3 min. is a lot of bergamot
aroma and flavor more like Upton's TE11 Extra Bergamot EG than Bigelow's EG.
The grassiness of the base tea comes through before the bergamot rolls over
and overtakes it making it a very interesting tea to savor. Because the
bergamot's so strong, I don't recommend this for those who prefer the
lighter scent and flavor of an EG like Upton's TE09 or TE10. There were four
stems in the tsp. of dry leaf, not enough to affect flavor, IMO.

3. Choral Pi Lo Chun/Green Snail Spring - The dry leaf of this has coiled
dark green leaves as well as much lighter leaves that are almost white-gray
in color. Steeped 1 tsp. in 8 oz at 170°F for 2-3/4 min. was best although
for 3 min. was also good. The liquor has a mild aroma and delicate flavor
with a texture that was smooth, but not quite smooth with a finish and
aftertaste of a bite that wasn't really a bite; it's more of a perk-me-up.
Intriguing.
