Gah-rham revisited

When I discovered this place in Beltsville, MD 2 years ago, AYCE lunch
with sushi was $8.39 plus tip. It went up twice to $9.44 plus tip last
time I was there. This time it was $11.50 plus tip. Now tea is not
free but $1.50. Yes they improved the decor and use less rice but
except for more choice of rolls, it's basically the same. It's still
busy but not packed any more. Guess people don't see it as cheap eats
any more. I'll probably go there every now and then and each time the
price will probably be higher than the last.

Spending over $10 for lunch is not my thing.

For sushi? Sheesh, I spend anywhere from $23 - $35 for lunch.
If you're just talking the lunch special (5-6 nigiri and a maki
with soup and salad), then yeah.. over $10 is not good.

Well, it's unlimited but only 4 choices of nigiri and about a dozen
choices of rolls. Of their selections I only like the salmon nigiri
and the avocado roll. Stuffing myself is not as enjoyable as years ago.
Getting stuffed make me sleepy for the rest of the day.

There is another quite good sushi (and regular Japanese food)
buffet in Rockville, Maryland: Hinode in the Congressional Plaza
off the Rockville Pike. I don't go there all that often because
of the temptation to over eat! Can't quite remember the price
but the buffet and a beer comes to about $15. The nigiri sushi
items are a bit smaller than those at the bar in another
favorite restaurant, the Matuba in Bethesda, MD, but the quality
and variety is pretty good.

I am continually amazed by the amount of sushi that many people,
including my son and friends, can put away at lunch time! If I
have more than a bowl of miso soup and an order of sashimi or 4
orders of nigiri sushi together with a beer, I will probably
feel like going to sleep in the afternoon.
