Bargain Alert -- in Eastern Mass. Staples advertises, for Nov. 28 only,
the Cannon 1250u scanner for $29.84 after rebates. Can't guess how
that might be in Texas, but it might be a chance for "Bob" to present
some evidence of the actuality of his bread without disadvantaging=20
Mrs. "Bob's" scanner.

I think that this printer is of the CCD variety (as compared with the=20
CIS variety) implying it is probably good for scanning three-dimensional
objects. Also I think it allows scanning 35-mm negatives. There is a=20
review of a scanner with a similar model number at
http://www.refurbdepot.com/productde...2712&refereri=
d=3Dnextag
Apparently it has a USB interface, which might mean require an
adapter.

As far as the Bread Faeries and Wee Folk are concerned, I am aware
that Charles has a digital camera, and suspect he has talents to rig =
some
remote triggering device so as to put their images in evidence.

Otherwise, in the absence of presentation of digital images, both named=20
individuals can be assumed to be subject to fantasies.

HTH (Hope this hindered)

Ooops, scanner, not printer.

CCD means "charge coupled device". That is an array of photosensors
in a scanner onto which an image is focused by a lens. =20

CIS means that the scanning head is an array of photocells and LEDs
which is moved along the glass directly under the scanned item.

The latter has a very shallow depth of field compared with the former.
So it might not be too good for scanning a three dimensional object=20
like a slice of bread.

HI Dick,

Perhaps such an image might look something like this:

http://www.fearn.ws/breadFaeriesCaught.jpg

(forgive me, Samartha... for modifying your photo! : -) )

Why would I need to do that? We are not running a contest here, are
we? If you want to see my bread so badly, then send me some money -
lots of money.

Can you present the digital image of a perfect circle, the one which
is the locus of all points on a plane that is equidistant from one
point? I think not. It's not a thing, it's a concept.

Does that mean there is no such thing as a circular object? When those
mechanical engineers design a circular part, using the circle as their
design object, are they deceiving themselves?

I can see the headlines now:

"All Circular Objects Deemed Fake Because No One Can Supply CrockPot
Adams With A Digital Image Of A Perfect Circle!"

Thanks, Heather. It is a well known fact that none of the Wee
Folk can be seen by mortals unless they wish to be seen. One
presumes that goes for photography as well. So you must be
blessed with the gift of vision as many of the inhabitants of
Irish pubs are. Thanks capturing a sight that many of these
doubting Thomas would never see otherwise.

Regards,

Charles

Hi Charles,

Well, that explains it; I have been known to pass a wee bit of time in
an Irish pub every now and then here in Boston. ; -)

Oh, "Bob", I merely sought to assist you to establish a modicum of=20
credibility, thus respectibility, in these walks.

Why do you persist in these ridiculous ineffective attempts to defame
and humiliate me?

What is this nonsense about a "Perfect Circle"? Did you fantasize that
I raised a "Perfect Circle" as an issue for debate?

Or perhaps you mean to designate someone other than myself with=20
your crude and inappropriate derogation?

I have been informed that the correct term is: "gift of second
sight"

Sorry.

I don't need no steenkin' modicums.

Anyway you can't photograph a modicum, can you.

You are such a Sweet Ol' ******* that it comes naturally.

You raised the metaphysical issue of the existence Bread Fairies. Just
because you can't photograph one doesn't mean they aren't a useful
concept.

They are a helluva lot more useful than modicums. No modicum has ever
helped anyone make better sourdough.

Isn't your name CrockPot Adams.

Nonsense! It was Charles. Anyway, it's Faeries, with an "e" not an =
"i".
Can't you get anything right?

> Isn't your name CrockPot Adams (?)

Unpoetic, uninspired, no rhythm, no rhyme, no ring, just not catchy!
Even Marcella did better with her classic utterance "Dick is a dick!"

If my name were "Doc", "Crock Pot Doc" might be good, but I will=20
not try to explain to you just why, "Bob" -- either one has poetry in=20
one's soul or one does not.

Heather,

I read your post. Good job.
Not paying attention and thinking that I was going to maybe see a photograph of
sourdough bread as captured by a flat plate scanner, I opened the link and then
almost pee'd my pants from laughter. This was not good as i was at work
trying to act important.

Please post warning.

Ed

What dictionary are you using? Websters spells it "fairy".

CrockPot Adams has a ring to it. And it is catchy.

You're just being too modest.
