Default A few taquerias in N.W. Chicagoland

Just got back from a visit to Chicago. A few notes on taquerias.
Arandas, on Oakton, in Des Plaines: Just short of perfection. I'm not
usually a big fan of pico de gallo. Theirs was darned good. They did
over charge me once ( 25¢ ).
Tacos El Norte, on Milwaukee in Niles: AWFUL! The food might have
been passable in St. Louis, where I live, but not in Chicago. We were
there about 20 minutes before closing, and the waitress started damp
mopping around out table with chemically smelling mop water. This
place should not be in business.
Monica's, in Palwaukee Plaza, just north of the intersection of the
River Road and Milwaukee, (Palatine?): I ate there nearly every day,
as we were staying at the Radisson, and the food was consistently good,
and the service friendly and prompt.
Los Huaraches, on Milwaukee at Sanders (Northbrook?): I didn't check
out the entrees, but I ordered rice pudding to go for my wife and son,
and they both gave it a serious thumbs up. I remember it being very
reasonably priced, as was their flan, which was small, but only like a
dollar or so, and they happily ate that up as well.
