texas has a coast. it's very long.

one would think that someone somewhere on that coast would know how to
find really really freshly caught seafood and cook it to perfection.

where would i find that person?

chefs who primarily rely on battered and deep fried productions are
automatically disqualified. it's a shame i feel it necessary to say
that.

do i sound like a food snob?

that's because i am.

i live in austin and i'll drive anywhere for a good piece of fish,
shrimp, or scallops - properly prepared...

It's quite a short distance downtown to Roy's Austin location.

There are lots. Register for the LA Times web site
www.calendarlive.com . You can search by location, price and/or type
of food.

On our last trip there, we had outstanding meals at Aubergine and L'Orangerie in
Newport Beach, and 5' (Five Feet) and French 75 in Laguna Beach.

We'd highly recommend Five Feet in particular.
