Lousy service, lousy pricing, big rip-off
What gives? A while ago on a trip with my daughter we stopped at a Denny's
in Barstow, CA. Our old faves were not on the menu and so we asked for them, the waiter told us they didn't have the items, so we asked when were they taken off and were told they never had them. We then noticed high prices on the menu and asked about them and we were told they could charge what ever they wanted to. They had no Grand Slam specials, and meal prices were average $ 2.00 higher than normal. The waiter was very rude and would not give us an explanation except quote'"We can charge whatever we want" unquote. Well, our drinks were already served but we just left them there untouched and walked out of the place and went about 15 miles west and found another Denny's which was,...ahhh...back in the real world! You're kidding, right? You expect good food and service from a restaurant chain like Denny's? Next time you want a good breakfast out, go to a local mom & pop place and you'll likely pay the same price for better food, and receive better service. I also cannot fathom why you would talk with a waitress acout the restaurant's pricing policy or menu, as that waitress probably had no more say over those issues than you do. You should have talked to the manager if the price and menu items were not to your satisfaction. |

Pricing in most chain resturants is very heavily influenced by local
conditions: i.e. the real estate deal, and labor supply. For some reason, people think they are buying food at most resturant, in reality they are paying for convienece. The exception being on the higher end, where the focus is on the craft of prepartion. My favorite quote is " I'm not selling food, I'm renting real estate at noon and 7." Nartker @ AOL.com Nartker |

Lousy service, lousy pricing, big rip-off
I am a caucasian male. I went to the Denny's restaurant today at LBJ
and Abrams road in Dallas. As I entered the restaraunt, I noticed that most of the customers were minorities and others who seemed to be from the "projects' because of their crude and vulgar appearance. The waitress arrived at my table. Her diction, her behavior, her vocabulary, and her appearance gave the apperance that she too was from the projects. After I politely asked for skin milk with my dinner, she angrily walked away from me and stated that they had none. A caucasian male then became my waiter. I ordered my meal. After a substantial and unreasonable period of time had passed, I informed my waiter that, unless my order arrived within two or three minutes, I would leave the restaurant because my order was unreasonably delayed. This period of time elapsed. I walked to the front of the restaurant at which point my waiter arrived with my meal in a bag. He told me that I could take it with me. I took the same as an unprovoked, intentional, and outrageous insult, which with the apparant unreasonable delay in my order, was clearly meant to hurt me emotionally (without any provocation on my part). I told the waiter that I intended to make a complaint about the same to the main offices of Denny's and asked for an explanation of the same. He told me that the manager was also acting as the chef which resulted in the delay. I did not complain to the main office of Denny's about the same as a result of this explanation. However, it is apparant to me, from similar instances of this occuring to me at Denny's in the past, that this sort of outrageous and unprovoked behavior based upon a variety of discriminatory factors is not unusual at Dennys. It is clear to me that at this restaraunt, both the staff and the staff felt that is was appropriate to act rudely and insultingly to me without provocation on my part because of certain socio, cultural, ethnic, and, perhaps, racial prejudices that they had. I would be more upset about this matter. However, given the aforementioned personal characteristics of both the staff and clientele at that restaurant, the same clearly made it clear to me that gentlemen should avoid this restaraunt which I gladly walked away from to find another which was more appropriate for me as a gentleman. |
