Default PEANUT BUTTER MINI MUFFINS

PEANUT BUTTER MINI MUFFINS

1 bag red, white & blue M&M'S® Brand Milk or Peanut Chocolate Candies
2 boxes (14-oz.) pound cake mix (or favorite cake mix, following the
directions for pound cake)
2 (16-oz.) containers white frosting
Blue food coloring
2 non-stick, 9 x 13-inch cake pans

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prepare the 2 boxes of pound cake
batter according to the directions on the package. Pour the batter in
each of the cake pans.

Bake the cakes for approximately 35 to 40 minutes, or until the sides
of the cakes pull away from the sides of the pans. Cool the cakes for
10 minutes, then remove from the cake pans and cool completely.

Cut one cake into two different sizes. The first, 5 x 7 inches and the
second, 7 x 9 inches.

Spoon 1/4 of the frosting into a bowl. Add the blue food coloring and
blend. Once desired color is reached, spoon frosting into a resealable
plastic bag. Set aside.

Frost the cake layers with the remaining white frosting. Beginning
with the largest layer, stack them from largest to smallest.

Snip the corner of the resealable bag with the blue icing. Mark off
the top left corner of the cake with the blue frosting (it'll become
the blue part of the flag). Fill in the corner by squeezing on the
remaining blue frosting, and then by spreading it smooth with the back
of a spoon or table knife.

To decorate the cakes like a flag:

For the Stars: Place white M&M'S® Brand Milk or Peanut Chocolate
Candies in straight lines, covering the blue area of the cake.

For the Stripes: Continue the straight lines with red M&M'S® Brand
Milk or Peanut Chocolate Candies across the white area of the cake.

SUBSTITUTION NOTE: If red, white and blue M&M'S® Brand Chocolate
Candies are not available at your favorite retailer, use yellow
candies instead of white from an everyday bag of M&M'S® Chocolate
Candies.
