Baked Cherry Pudding

2/3 cup sugar
1 cup flour
2 tsp baking powder
dash salt
2/3 cup milk
1 can (14 1/2 oz.) pitted tart cherries undrained
1 cup sugar
1 Tbsp butter

This is a easy yet delicious cake-like homey dessert. Serve with whipped
topping or whipped cream. In bowl combine 2/3 cup sugar, flour, baking
powder and salt. Stir in milk. Spread mixture in a 11 x 7 x 2 inch
casserole or similar oblong baking dish . Set aside. In saucepan combine
cherries, butter and 1 cup sugar. Stir over medium heat and bring to a
boil, cooking a minute or two to dissolve sugar. Spoon over mixture in
pan. Bake 350F for 30 minutes or until top is light golden brown. Serve
warm.
