Soft Sugar Cookies with Sour Cream
Soft Sugar Cookies
3 1/4 cup flour 1 tsp soda 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 cup shortening 1 cup sugar 1 egg 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 cup sour cream Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla - mix well. Add dry ingredients and sour cream alternately starting and ending with dry ingredients. Roll out to at least 1/2 inch thick and cut out. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 12-15 min. If you want you can sprinkle plain or colored sugar on the cookies before baking. We like to just ice them with regular shortening/10x sugar icing. Cookies will be soft and cakelike and will keep well if stored in something like tupperware.
