Unstuffed Cabbage
2 lbs. green cabbage 1 lb. hamburger 1 egg 1/4 cup raw rice 1/4 tsp. salt 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce 1/4 cup vinegar 3/4 cup brown sugar 2 Tbsp lemon juice 1 sm. box raisins (optional) Sm. whole potatoes 1 1/2 cup water Cut cabbage in wedges or chunks (not fine as for cole slaw) and place in bottom of large Dutch oven. Mix tomatoes, tomato sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, lemon juice and water together. Cover and cook over medium high heat briefly. Mix hamburger, egg, salt and uncooked rice together and make into meat balls (approximately 18-20). Place on top of cabbage mixture. Cover pot; lower heat and simmer gently for 2 1/2 hours.
