Default Question about steel containers for freezing food

Hello all,

I am thinking of using flat/ and not so flat square steel containers (get
plenty of them in India) with sqare lids to freeze foods (meat, soups
sauce, veggies etc., ) and wrapping the edges with freezer tape...

Is there any reason this would not be advisable ?

I also looked into glass, but I am not able to find a good source of
stackable containers in a variety of shapes.

I'd appreciate any pointers to whre I might buy glass containers for
freezing food and also a US source for steel because I'm not going to India
anytime soon.
Thanks
Anits

If they're stainless steel, maybe. Otherwise no. They'll rust. Without
knowing more about them, no definitive answer.

Glass has the hazard of shattering if bumped, and breaking if the foods
inside expand in freezing. There are glass jars usable for freezing
available in the U.S. Check wherever they sell canning supplies near you.

They are definitely stainless steel, I did not mention what type because I
had no idea that there were other types. So if it is stainless steel can I
use them for freezing ? In India they are routinely used to store things
but I dont know if they put it in the freezer.

I know about the wide-mouthed jars, but I like the squre type because it
takes up less space in the fridge and hopefully comes in different sizes.
Any place I can pick those up ?

Thanks
