Botulism, Grant County, Washington State 2016
News media is saying botulism occurrence possibly owing to home canning. __________________________________________________ __ The Grant County Health District (GCHD) is investigating two deaths in Grant County for their likely connection to a rare, muscle-paralyzing disease. Health District officials believe the two deaths were caused by botulism. The source of the disease is not yet confirmed, but it is believed the source was home-canned food. http://www.columbiabasinherald.com/n...11fd75dfa.html The victims were in their 80s and lived together, but health officials say the disease can affect people of any age. http://www.ccenterdispatch.com/news/...2adb40676.html __________________________________________________ __ Something odd. Here they say they had a case in 2002 in Grant County, Washington, from green beans: https://www.wenatcheeworld.com/news/...county-deaths/ But no 2002 case for Washington shows in the CDC's logs: http://www.cdc.gov/nationalsurveilla..._CSTE_2002.pdf |
