I've still got loads of frozen pears from last year. What goes wrong if they're kept in the freezer for over a year?

You'll forget about them, and find them 10 years from now and won't
remember what they are. ;-) If the freezer is working properly,
doesn't get unplugged or the door left open, etc, they'll still edible.
They *might* be freezer-burned, depending how well you packaged them.

How are they packaged? If they're just in zipper bags or plastic
containers they're going to be frost bitten by now and, probably,
dehydrated somewhat. If in vacuum bags they will still be good, and
should stay good for at least another year. I'm basing that on storage
methods and lengths of time that I have practiced.

They're in unsealed sandwich bags, just folded over. Usually after a year things packed that way show spots of dehydration / freezer burn, but these look fine. Don't know why.

They're usually eaten without heating to kill bugs, just defrosted. I've got a good quantity, don't know how long they'll be safe for. Got fed up, need a wider range I guess

Will get a freezer temp check tomorrow.
