Default Is BHT beneficial for food storing?

Maybe you are unfamiliar with BHT, it's widely used as antioxygen which can extend service life of food. BHT, known as butylated hydroxytoluene, plays an important role in preservation for kinds of food, such as instant noodles, sausage and seafood, etc.

On the other hand, BHT (128-37-0) is something that tend to cause cancers and other diseases, such as liver hypertrophy, low birth rate and chromosome changes, etc. From an experiment, a pregnant mice dine on something mixed with BHT gave birth to have sleepless baby mouse. It prove that BHT has the power to trigger deformity. Thus, the amount of BHT, as food addictive, is strictly limited in many countries. Actually, it can be beneficial in food industry as long as it is made into use properly.
