Default Today's bounty

DW and I put up 1 pint, 7 half-pints, and 2 four-ounce jars of raspberry
fig jam today. Have two pint jars left, one regular, one wide-mouth,
case of half-pints, case of four-ounce. Box and a half of lids of two
kinds, regular and wide-mouth. She's making a trip over to Lafayette
tomorrow and I think I'm going to go jar and lid shopping, hitting the
three or four thrift shops in the area and possibly stopping at a couple
of Dollar stores. Usually the Dollar stores around here don't have jars
or lids so will probably end up Big Lots, haven't been in there in a bit
and they had pallet loads of jars last time I was.

Chopped, froze, bagged, a quart each of okra and sweet chiles and here
she comes again. DW just walked in from the garden with what looks like
another quart of each.

Something ate all of our eggplant plants except two and those aren't
producing a lot, must be the 100 plus heat going on now and no rain today.

Talked to the folks who run our 89-year old fair here and they have
upped the ante. Every body still gets a ribbon and the blue ribbon
winners get two bucks per ribbon. No big canning prizes and they don't
taste anything. I guess the prettiest jar in the age class wins. Just
ain't worth the effort and I haven't heard anything good about the state
fair at Baton Rouge either. Maybe I'll check the SE Texas State Fair at
Beaumont, Texas, that's only fifty miles away, they used to have some
pretty good prizes. Pay attention Barb, what do you call a male ribbon slut?

I don't see why not.

I volunteer weekly with a bunch of men in their mid 80s
who refer to themselves as ROMEOS--retired old men eating out.

I've got the pictures of Jorge in his pearls. Click on link in my sig
line and go to George Shirley at the top of the page. You might want a
stiff drink at hand, Keith. "-)
