Default deperately seeking... recipes

For the past several years, food writer Molly O'Neill has been working
with the Library of America to create a landmark anthology of American
literary food writing. Organized chronologically, the volume is not so
much a compendium of food writing, per se, as it is anthology that
tells the story of food in America through literature, poetry, food
writing and recipes.

Thats right, recipes. O'Neill and the Library of America hope to
include up to fifty recipes that show the
history of American food -- and of American recipe writing -- and seek
suggestions for specific recipes for inclusion on that list.

Your suggestions should include the recipe -- and/or a citation.

Any one who provides a significant historical recipe that is chosen for
inclusion will be able to select a
volume from the Library of America's list as a token of appreciation
for this contribution.

Please respond, off-list, to:

Gary Allen
