Default Cooking Crab Cakes For Appetizers Or a Main Course

Traditionally associated with Maryland and the Northeast coast, crab
cakes are even better when using wild Alaska crab.  It's easy to
achieve a fresh flavor year-round when using Alaska crab, as you can
get it fresh, frozen, or canned and still be guaranteed the high-
quality texture, flavor, and nutrients that Alaska seafood is prized
for.  Cakes can be fried, broiled, or pan-cooked.  Go for
classic Baltimore style cakes, mixed with bread crumbs, mayo, and
green onions, or play around with more exotic mixes.
As an appetizer, you can't go wrong with crab cakes.  Next time
you are hosting a dinner or bringing an hors d'oeuvre to a friend's
party, pick up some wild Alaska crab and whip up a set of melt-in-your
mouth cakes.  Bake patties or fry up croquettes, and either way
you will have everyone at the party complimenting you and asking for
the recipe.  Crab cakes can also be used as a main course when
served in a sandwich or open-faced on a generous slice of bread.
You will want to find a recipe that sticks together well, since for
this you will be creating a larger cake.  If possible, serve on
fresh-baked rustic bread.
As long as you are using wild crab, go wild with ingredients,
too.  Try making a patty with chili powder and lime zest, and
serve with a chipotle mayonnaise.  Fresh ginger and cilantro are
also an interesting combination for a cake with some zing to it.
Serve cakes by themselves or over a bed of baby greens and alfalfa
sprouts.  Mexican style croquettes can be topped with salsa, and
served as a started to a larger Mexican meal of seafood fajitas.
The sky is the limit when it comes to dressing up these succulent
treats.
Be the start of your next party by bringing some wild Alaska crab
cakes that are melt-in-your mouth delicious.  They are simple to
make, and with all of the possibilities for experimenting with unusual
ingredients, you can easily come up with a recipe that becomes your
signature dish.  Look out though, before long you will start
getting invited to a lot of dinner parties with everyone requesting
your special Alaska crab cakes!

It was a delicious and nutritious food, but I can not eat crabs. I'm allergic to them.
