Default Mint Julep (for Derby Day!)

Mint Julep

6 sprigs fresh mint
1 teaspoon superfine sugar, or more to taste
1.5 cups crushed ice
3 ounces bourbon

Strip the leaves off 4 of the mint sprigs; discard the stems. Roughly
chop the leaves and divide in half.

Place one half of the chopped mint leaves in the bottom of a chilled
12 ounce glass or mug. Add the sugar; thoroughly mix and bruised the
mint-sugar mixture with a bar muddler or the blunt end of a wooden
spoon.

Fill the glass halfway with ice. Place the remaining chopped mint on
top and fill the glass to the top with the remaining ice. Pour in the
bourbon, stir and garnish with remaining 2 mint sprigs.
