Bartender mixes a whiskey winner -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sips: Spirits By Rebecca Goodman The Cincinnati Enquirer I heard they were pouring a new drink at the Hyde Park Golf & Country Club called the Jim Beam Black Knight. While eager to try it, I realized the only way I might get into the private club was if I signed up to caddy. Fortunately, the recipe - created by club bartender Les Hemingway - was revealed this month. That's because Hemingway was one of eight bartenders nationwide to win a contest sponsored by Jim Beam Black bourbon. His drink combines this 86-proof, eight-year-old whiskey, distilled in Clermont, Ky., with spicy DeKuyper Cinnamon Schnapps, honey and hot apple cider. It's so good, everybody in Cincinnati may want to join the club. Jim Beam Black Knight 11/4 ounces Jim Beam Black bourbon 1/8 ounce honey 1/8 ounce DeKuyper Cinnamon Schnapps 6 ounces hot apple cider Apple wedge, marinated in Jim Beam Black Pour ingredients into large mug. Stir with cinnamon stick. Garnish with apple wedge. Makes 1 drink. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
