Help with countertop organizer unit?
We're having a tough time finding the type of unit we need for use
as an organizer for a dozen daily-used items we keep on our kitchen countertop. We were hoping we could find something like a bread-box with a sliding door, plus a couple of small shelves. Ideally the unit would be 18"-24" w. x 7"-9" d. x about 18" h. The items we need to store in this little organizer would include a couple of small jars of coffee, a small sugar bowl, salt & pepper shakers, and misc. other jars and small bottles of sauces. Can't find anything similar to what I need in Ikea, Williams and Sonoma, or other typical places, so I'm throwing this one out to the wisdom of the newsgroup! |

Functional bread boxes are quite hard to find, at least those that hold more than one loaf. gloria p |

I keep a beautiful tray I bought years ago from The Smithsonian museum shop on my counter next to my stove. On that gorgeous tray I keep assorted bottles of olive oils (2), assorted vinegars (3), salt, a tall pepper grinder, a sugar bowl, and a small squat ceramic pitcher filled with my cooking tools. I like to keep everything at hand, and because it is slightly contained it looks appropriate and not messy. Goomba |

If all else fails, draw up what you need and hire a local cabinet maker to build the organizer for you. |

No. It is a rectangle tray with a lovely, slightly Monet type art work on it showing the layout of all the Smithsonian museums in Washington. It is very pretty, and handy! Sadly the art doesn't show while in use. |
