Nevermind. I've seen enough.

Put unqualified people in an overwhelming situation and then abuse
them unmercifully no matter how hard they try. Yeah, right. I'd love
to see someone put a kebob skewer right through this asshole's
eyeball.

I've heard about this show but it's not on free to air here. What I want
to know is why anybody would be crazy enough to volunteer to be
humiliated before millions of people. Where do they get the victims for
these type of shows?

Gordon Ramsay is a world-reknown chef. These contestants are trying to
win a spot as executive chef of a multi-million dollar restaurant in
the swank Las Vegas Red Rocks casino. Much of what you see is merely
play for the cameras - the contest is real and the stakes are high.
While some of the contestants were cast for their ability to create
"drama" some are dead serious and are actually experienced chefs.

nb,

I offered up this punishment last year:

He should be sentenced to solitary confinement for a week and fed only
monterey jack cheese crepes, then fed an ex-lax/coconut milk/olive
oil/ice cream milkshake.

Jerry Springer surplus.

What I don't understand is how anyone finds it entertaining. Where's
Zidane when we need him?

<giggles> Sounds like my current job, with all the newer recruits!

<sigh>

Only a few of them, not all of them.

Fortunately.

Because there's a big prize at stake? I'm sure they had thousands of
audition tapes to go through.

Nah, it's a great show. Sure he yells some, so what? It's not like they
didn't know going in. It's an overdramatized "drill sergeant" approach.

They're paying him big bucks to be rude. Besides, when the "winning team"
gets a day off and he takes them out to lunch or dinner or whatever, he's
actually very charming and doesn't make them call him "chef" :)

He didn't go to Europe. He's in the process of opening his restaurant
in Las Vegas. And he started a line of cutlery called Skull and
Cleavers.

Exactly, it's part of the game. Should contestants on Survivor complain
because they're short of food then have to perform in silly contests?

And even during the cooking, he'll have private moments with the
contestants to buck them up when needed.

I disagree. Sheldon has actually been quoted as speaking a kind word.
Gordon Ramsey doesn't know any.
