Steve,

C'mon, you can just as well deep fry as much bacon then crumble it to
bacon bits with less trouble and technique and cleaning parts.

Actually, I do like cutting the bacon into little bits before I cook it,
but I wouldn't bother dragging out the meat grinder. Cutting semi-frozen
bacon with a big knife is easy. The pieces are more uniform than crumbling
after cooking.

Oh No! Not you too, Wayne!?

Crisp bacon is by nature fit for bacon bits without any further ado.

I don't see where the extra work and cleanup is worth it.

To each their own I guess.
