blueberry pie
 

I already posted on rec.food.baking, but my server doesn't like that group
today and isn't receiving it, so to you my dear friends, I am making this
plea:

Youngest daughter, Jill, has decided to bake Daddy a blueberry pie for
Father's Day. My bushes were generous and she has in excess of four cups of
blueberries cooling their heels in the fridge waiting for mom to get her act
together and help.

My question is this: I can google a blueberry pie recipe, but I want a
tried and true GOOD pie recipe that isn't too complicated that a 10 year old
can make it. Can anyone give me an assist here?

One question: can she make pie crust?

One caution: it usually takes 6 cups of berries to make a pie. Better figure
on making a small one, or add some berries.

Ginny, this is probably coming too late, but the following is a terrific
blueberry pie recipe that I have made many times, with never a failure. I
generally use frozen berries, but fresh work just as well.

Blueberry Pie

Recipe By :
Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:30
Categories : Desserts Fruits
Pies

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
5 cups blueberries
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
2 tablespoons butter
2 each pie crusts (9 inch)

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Place blueberries in large mixing bowl. Combine dry ingredients and mix
gently into blueberries.

Turn half of blueberry mixture into prepare pie crust. Dot with butter and
and remaining blueberry mixture, mounding in center.

Bake in preheated oven 45-55 minutes, or until crust is golden brown and
berry juice bubbles.

Cool completely to room temperature before serving.

Note: You can use refrigerated pie crusts if homemade isn't a possibility.

this recipe has been in my family for yrs i hope you enjoy it as much as
we do.......for an 8"pie 4c berries.....1c sugar...3-4tbs flour...what
i usually do is put in a pot on top of stove on med heat stirring untill
all the sugar is dissolved this way you can taste it to see if you want
more sugar then i pour it in my crust and bake at 350....

UMMMMMMMmmmmm, blueberries!

I loved blueberries so much, my grandmother made me a blueberry pie for
my first birthday instead of a cake.

Unfortunately, I don't have a recipe. (I seem to only know how to EAT
blueberry pie!)

But I'm looking forward to lots of great recipes for pies in this thread.
