Hmm...I might just do this, after I finally get my books out of storage. I have heard so many stories from food professionals, that say that they started towards their professional cooking careers by working their way through these books in just this manner. Must be something to it.. ;) Maybe I will start an rfc tagalong project, in case anyone wants to join me in doing this. I might do it anyway, just myself, but it might be fun to have a bunch of us attempting to educate ourselves by cooking our way through these books. Would be interesting to post our results, trials, etc on this group. Christine |

I am assuming that is because the authors didn't know that they were going to have a 2nd volume when they published the first one. The 2nd volume came several years later, and wasn't originally planned. The only one that has a volume number, is volume II, as far as I know. If someone else has the the volumes in front of them, maybe they help clarify this. Christine |

On the title page of the one I have it says 1961. The page with all the printing & copyright information gives the copyright date as 1961 and "Published October 16, 1961." I would NEVER criticise Julia:-) I heard her interviewed on CBC and she was asked what she would like her last meal to be and she replied: 1/2dozen oysters followed by Foie Gras.
