Default Taylor's meat roll???

Hello Jersyites and Philly folks-

My local souper market has started carrying Taylor's meat rolls. They
come in cute little cloth bags and sell for about US$ 9.00 per bag. I
was just wondering how you folks back there eat/prepare them and are
they more interesting than a can of spam?
Thanks-
D.M.

Hiya ... it's Taylor Pork Roll. Just so's you know. (smile)

You slice them relatively thin ... up to you how thick? say
1/4 inch thick. Cut 4 slits in the edges, you know,
12, 3, 6 & 9 oclock, to help them lie flat. You fry them
up and eat them with eggs in the way you'd have bacon,
or people make pork roll and cheese (melt the cheese on
the pork roll) on kaiser rolls, that's good.

I like it, people who grow up with it and move away miss
it. A cheaper way to try it, look for the boxes of pre-sliced,
it'll be right by the burlap bags, only lower. The boxes are
red. There will be 4 or 8 slices (4 thick and 8 thin? I think?),
it won't be such an investment if you don't like it. It freezes
very well, by the way.

Our local Kroger locations carry it. It's sold by the whole (smaller)
roll and also sliced to order (larger roll) in the deli case.

It's in the sausage/ham/etc. case at the far end of the meat counter at
the Nugget on Covell and Poleline. Are there any more RFC participants
in this area? Maybe we could do a Sac'o'tomatoes cook-in.

D.M.
p.s. thanks for the responses

That is a lovely store! Sac'o'tomatoes cook-in sounds swell. I
hostessed one in ... erm ... 2001, I could do again. sf and I
briefly discussed doing another one when I was hoping to re-do my
kitchen. The kitchen won't be re-done but ... I could go for it.
Jillie and Virtual Goth Bob are in Roseville. Christine Dabney is in
Fairfield. There's a whole bunch of usual suspects in Berkeley,
Oakland (Littleshoes!), The City by the Bay (Reg!) We'll discuss :-)

Drop into chat sometime... you'll be surprised to find who is in our
area.... notbob is almost your neighbor!

BTW: South Natomas? I was looking (rather seriously) at Natomas Park
a couple of years ago.

Well I'd love to find out! But I'm just not much into the chat thing.

No kidding! notbob?! Cool! Where are ya, notbob?

North Natomas is fairly new. Rice fields used to be where all those
houses are now. South Natomas is about ... 25 years old and is pretty
downmarket compared to NN. And I live in the OLLLLLD :-) section
which used to be called Northgate-Gardenland. My parents bought here
in 1963. Furthest I've lived from the ancestral home is South
Sacramento :-DDDDDDD So yes, I truly am a local lass.
