Crash's left hip replacement will take place tomorrow morning. Last
time, he was hospitalized for 5 days. Hopefully, this time will go as
well.

Anywho, I won't be posting a lot, but I'll try to keep people informed
(not in nearly as much detail as last time).

Thanks for any support you'd like to offer.

I hope things work out for the best and he is able to run home after the
operation...well 15 minutes after...he'll need at least that.

Well..since you ask - and Thanks for the card..
I had 80% of my stomach removed and that is healing up nicely.
However; as is the norm with this type of cancer, it has spread.
My next move is to Vancouver for a chemo course - about five weeks - one
session per week.
Hopefully that will get underway next week.
All the information I have been able to obtain suggests that there is no
cure - only a delaying (and supression of symptoms) is possible.
I am truly sorry to be laying this bad news on you and the group but rest
assured, I am not about to start whining and sniviling about my fate.
I do have resources; and many friends that amount to an internationally
extended family and I intend to have a hoot with the time I have left.

Love.
Ken.

Crash's surgery was much faster this time and it looks like the
medication problem we had last time won't occur again.

He's sleeping peacefully, so I came home to get a little sleep.

Dear Ken,

I knew of the results of your surgery, but not of the prognosis. I am
deeply sorry to hear that. You've already made a great comeback from the
surgery. It's not unthinkable that you could beat the odds. I'm counting
on that!

Wow! Crash has been calm, cool, and collected all day. Even sent me
home early tonight so we could both get some rest. This is NOT the
same man who was calling me in the middle of the night, asking for me
to come and sit with him a few months ago.

Everything is going much more smoothly. No medications have been
withheld. He doesn't have the morphine pump until tomorrow, but I'm
not sure how much he'll need it.

Before and after the first surgery, he regularly reported pain in the
14+ range on a scale of 1 to 10. I asked what the number was earlier
this evening. Minus 4!!!

He's saying he can't wait for physical therapy tomorrow so he can do
what he needs to do so he can come home.

Has anyone seen the pod? I can't find it anywhere!

Thanks for everything, guys. I'll let you know when he comes home.
