There are links to most every US and Canadian newspaper food section extant
(and also international) at:

http://www.sautewednesday.com/

Click on "Newpaper Sections" on the right....

Great site, Greg. Thanks. Minneapolis' Taste Section is an
award-winning section, but you have to find it under Star Tribune, not
Minneapolis (in their alphabetizing system).

Only 7 days until my birthday. "Shop early, shop often, shop
big." Good gin and cheap chocolate preferred. Or is it cheap
gin and good chocolate? I can never remember. . . .A diamond bracelet
would be nice. . .

This is great, I have already found a few recipes I want to try. Thanks
so much.

Thanks. I enjoyed the article on "Simple Soups". I am going to Florida
next week, but when I come home, I am cooking the Wild Mushroom Soup.
Thanks again.

Once during Prohibition I was forced to live for days on nothing but food
and water.

It's a good section, I'll bookmark it....

[The Star - Tribune is a pretty good paper. When Gorbachev visited
Minnesota in 1991 (?) I wrote them and got the issues that covered his
visit...it was a big deal (and they kindly sent me the issues for free). I
sent them to a family in Moscow I was penpals with at the time (I also sent
them food parcels as the victual sitch there was dire...) - I wanted them to
see all the hoopla that Gorby was getting in the States at that time...]

Unfortunately our two Chicago papers (Tribune and Sun - Times) have pretty
crummy food sections...mostly re - rehashed wire service stuff and articles
seemingly meant for 10 year - olds. We are a great food town and deserve
better. I get most of my Chicago food info these days from
www.chowhound.com ....

Thanks for the link! What a great site! Like you I am in Chicago and the
Tribune Food section is pretty bad. I assume the Sun Times is even worse
but I almost never look at the Sun Times anymore! Since Grant Achatz is
leaving Trio soon I am going to eat there next week. I am pretty excited
even if it *does* mean a drive to Evanston. I was motivated to make the
drive based on several reviews including some remarkably comprehensive ones
on Chowhound.

Again, thanks for the link!

Great site indeed. While you are there, look under news to a "wine
wars" story from the SF Chronicle or click this:

http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cg...IG6J6RKEP1.DTL

I found this fascinating, as well as hilarious. I can believe the
European critics can honestly think this sort of wine is vulgar, but,
as one of the five people who actually liked Calloway's 1975 Petit
Sirah, I can't throw stones.

And if Parker is responsible for the winemaking techniques that
produce $5 Borsau I say more power to him.
