Hi Jill

I have my bean soup in the slow cooker as I speak. I think the
sweetener is to cut the acid taste of the tomato sauce. I used brown
sugar twin instead. I don't eat beans, but the broth tastes pretty
good. I added some oregano and garlic granules as per your recipe. I
soaked the whole package of beans and now have extra and am wondering
what to do with them. I'd like to freeze them for next time I make soup
or baked beans. Can I freeze them like they are or should they be
cooked first? You've been a big help...tia....Sharon

I would freeze them as they are. Hope your husband enjoys the soup! :)

He sampled the liquid and pronounced it good, but said it needs
thickening... your hint about putting in some barley will take care of
that. He gets his bean soup and I'll have a baked potato and a small
steak with a veg...lol.... He doesn't like steak and I don't like
beans... We've been married almost 46 years and just lately I've been
trying new stuff. My mom didn't teach me to cook and there are a lot of
dishes I've never tried. I have my "repertoire" but mostly plain
cooking...meat, potatoes, veg.... Thanks ....Sharon
