I picked up a little cook book that has some corn bread recipes calling for
bread in it.
Has anyone ever made corn bread using bread as an ingredient?

Sure, I do that all the time... you must mean "altus", a type of mash
made from the crusts of stale sour rye bread.

I'd love to know the name of your little book of corn bread recipes...
you do realize that "corn bread" contains no corn (maize) whatsoever...
corn bread is a type of rye bread that is relatively dense... corn
bread is the king of all breads.

I've used Jiffy Mix and I would imagine there is nothing even resembling
bread in that stuff...
