Tofu

Hey everyone,

I am a college sophmore and i am in need of losing my freshman 20. I
have started eating healthier and I want to start eat tofu. I know that
it doesnt have flavor on its own and I am good at mixing sauces and
seasoning but what i really want to know is how to get tofu to be
crispy without it becoming unhealthy. I am not even sure if it can be
done but any advice will be welcomed!!!!
yours,
alex

I had a friend who sliced firm tofu thinly, put it on parchment paper,
sprinkled with Mrs. Dash and baked until it had formed crisp crackers. No
idea as to temperature or time.

Get on the internet and look up Japanese Recipes. Most of them Have tofu in
them. Add it to your stew, soup, etc. If you need any more help, contact
me directly.

I just fried up some tofu last night, actually. I took it and gave it an
eggwash, coated it in panko (Japanese breadcrumbs) and fried it. Served
with soy & wasabi. Simple, easy and good. My husband even ate it!

It does. It's just a subtle flavor. I like it.

I think frying would be that "unhealthy" thing the poster was talking
about. :-)

You can, however, make the texture change in a way that most meat-eaters
seem to like by freezing the tofu, then thawing it. It gets chewy and
meat-like. Then try dipping slices of it in barbecue sauce and baking
them. My omnivorous partners really like barbecued-tofu sandwiches. I
can give you more ideas of how to cook tofu if you don't need it crispy.
Oh, and there's a good (and labor-intensive) recipe for tofu "bacon" in
one of my cookbooks. Want it?
