How long can hard boiled eggs last?

Assuming I start with fresh eggs, boil them until they are hard enough
to slice with a household egg slicer, and refrigerate promptly, how long
will they last?

I seem to recall a restaurant I worked in many many years ago kept them
peeled and in water in the walk-in, but that was prolly just for ease 0f
use when needed... but...
Would they last longer shelled or unshelled.

Any egg longevity experts out there?

Shelled or unshelled, I'd not recommend storing hard cooked eggs in the fridge
more than 48 hours. Perhaps that restaurant was extending the storage time by
holding the hard cooked eggs in a mild brine. Of course hard cooked eggs can
keep quite a long while pickled in vinegar. and salt. To learn about eggs go

Thanks for the link.

It says:

Hard cooked eggs should be kept in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Question answered.

Don't boil them until you are ready to use them.

It's been my personal experience that boiled eggs will keep a fraction
of the time that raw eggs will.

Good, undamaged raw eggs can keep for up to 6 weeks or more at 40
degrees.

I've had hard boiled eggs, in the shell, spoil after about 2 weeks.

Peeled and sliced? I'd guess 2 to 3 days TOPS.

as they do not take much preparation it is really best to do them as
and when needed, but, if you find you have done too many then they
will certainly keep in the fridge for a couple of days. i would shell
them and wrap in cling film as they could make other foods smell eggy.

I like eggs for breakfast but am always in a hurry. Boil a batch Sunday
night. Keep them in the refrig (in the shell) and eat them all week.
Been doing it off and on for years - no problem. So to answer the
question - at least 5 days.

It's always good to remind the Easter Bunny about this during this time of year.
