Default Kitchen Aid mixer problem

Hi

I have a KA stand mixer., a KSM90

It has a silver collar immediately beneath the KA name which covers up the
screws that hold on the head of the beater.

It doesn't do anything, it's just there for looks I think and maybe to keep
stuff out of the orbiting head.

Anywhichways, it's decided to come off and I can't get the thing to stay
back on there. It doesn't have any lock type thingo, and it doesn't have
any way of holding itself on. It simply slips down every time I put it back
on.

Has anyone had a similar problem? I guess I could glue it on somehow but
that doesn't seem to be a wise first choice.

I emailed KA over a week ago about it but they haven't responded (or even
acknowledged it!)

In the words of an endearing little chappy with big fingers "Need Input"

thanks

Depending on when you purchased or rec'd your KA they will replace it. I
rec'd mine as a gift and paint had chipped off. KA gladly replaced it. No
fuss no Hassle. This was done over the phone. I will admist that their
internet customer svc is not as great (speaking from experience).

The collar on mine started to loosen during routine cleaning and finally
slid off. It was a good thing, actually, because it allowed me to REALLY
clean the darn thing. It's amazing just how much crud gets under there.

The collar is no longer attached as firmly as it was when the mixer was new,
but it slides up there into place pretty easily and (for now, anyway) stays
put until I want it to come loose again. It may help to clean not just the
area above the orbiting head but the inside of the ring as well. That might
clear things enough to enable it to seat again.

But honestly, I think the ring is there only as a nameplate. It doesn't
significantly protect the orbiting head as far as I can see, and when the
day comes that mine won't seat anymore I will probably simply remove it to
get it out of the way.

Thanks Sheldon but I'm in Western Australia and don't get the 800 option way
down here.
