![]() Kramer and his 'Clair Vickers' sock puppet. Another one from the archives. This one is another example of just how devious Kramer is in his continuing abuse of usenet whilst he spams the group trying to promote his business. In this one, he sets up his 'Clair Vickers' sock puppet to make a post to sct, posing as a tourist and asks a few questions about an upcoming trip to Chiang Mai. The very next day, guess who jumps in? Yep, 'Kombat' Kramer!!! Kombat runs a tour business in Chiang Mai and answers his own post with a detailed list of... well read for yourself! He was obviously and deviously trying to promote himself here by using SPAM to do so. Hello, Are there special activities happening in Chiang Mai in December that one just shouldn't miss? Are there cultural or scenic spots that are "must see" sort of places there? Any recommended hotels better for single women? Thank you Clair ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Newsgroups: soc.culture.thai From: Steve Kramer > Date: Tue, 21 Oct 2003 20:58:12 +0700 Local: Tues, Oct 21 2003 6:58 am Subject: Chiang Mai in December? > Are there cultural or scenic spots that are "must see" sort of places > there? If I were visiting Chiang Mai in December (the weather is wonderfully cool by then) the places I would want to see around town would be the Wat on Doi Suthep, Wat Chedi Luang, and Wat Suan Doak for the temples, Warrorot Market for a glimpse of a typical (but huge) morning and day market, a stroll along the moat near Thapae Gate then into the Old City for just a quick walk around. In the evening try a Kantoke dinner show with good food and traditional Thai dancers performing for you. There are several different ones to chose from. And of course, there is Chiang Mai's famous Night Bazaar. A stroll along looking at the vendors stalls may turn up a bargain or two. Going just about 15 minutes north of town you can find great orchid nurseries and butterfly farms, three different elephant camps (one is VERY touristy and two quite natural) a water buffalo training farm, The Queen's Botanical gardens, snake and monkey shows if you like that sort of thing, and some hill tribe villages if you prefer more cultural endeavors. 10 minutes east of town you can find the San Kamphang handicraft area with many different items being fashioned, from paper to silver, silk to umbrellas. Going south for just an hour will get you to Doi Inthanon National Park with several beautiful waterfalls, (Be sure to visit the Mae Ya waterfall!) Karen and Hmong hill tribe villages, temples, and the King and Queen Stupas on the summit. If you are here on a Tuesday, there is a wonderful farmers market that takes place 63k north in the village of Chang Dao. Several different hill tribes use this market as their main means of selling their produce, stocking up on items that they can't make themselves, and gathering to chat. The mix of colorful costumes is a riot of color for a photographer! But remember, this market is ONLY held on Tuesday mornings! > Any recommended hotels better for single women? I have never heard of women having any problems at any of the hotels in Chiang Mai. Not that it has never happened. The world isn't crime free. But Chiang Mai is NOT a hotbed of criminal activity aimed at women. Aimed at anyone, for that matter. It's a rather nice place to live! If you'd like more specific details, just send me an e-mail.
