Default LC-REC - Artichoke Dip

Okay, Ranger, two can play at this game.

Instead of pitas or crackers, use various vegetables or low-carb crackers
(Bran-a-Crisp or Wasa) if you want to keep the carbs down.

Where, precisely, are these retail establishments located?

[snip egg-say-launt recipe]

Now you've made me go and make a grocery list. I'll pro'ly head down to
my favorite place, Gene's Fine Foods for most of the ingredients and
round it off by heading back through Westgate West's TJ's.

What? What's on sale? For how much? I might drive to your house and go
shopping with you if it'll save me a couple bucks.

This particular TJ's is 2 and Gene's is 4 miles from where I live...
Round trip is 8 miles, give or take a few feet... I'll probably blow a
total of US$25 because I'm told we need some additional stuff that's on
sale too.

Hi Damsel, I know you didn't originate this recipe, but using marinated
Artichoke Hearts in this recipe sounds horrible!

Here, try this recipe, it's my Aun'ts, Evelyn Lewin (Last name of her's
is through marriage, she's Italian) She originated the recipe I
understand, and her name's in the official cookbook on this one.

Artichoke Dip:

1 Can Artichoke Hearts (Chopped)
1/2 Cup Sour Cream
1/2 Cup Mayonaisse
8 oz Cream Cheese
1/2 Cup Grated Parmesan Cheese (Or Romano)
1/3 Tsp Garlic Powder

Mix Ingredients Together and Bake at 350 for 20-30 Minutes

Probably went over a few heads, though...

$18.77 and you didn't even get any?

Sheesh, I guess I'm better off not knowing what stuff costs!

Ingredients (cost and merchant):
8 oz cream cheese (Gene's, US$2.25)
12 oz. shredded mozzarella cheese (Gene's, US$4.43)
1 cup mayonnaise (Gene's, US$2.89)
1 cup grated parmesan cheese (TJ, US$3.99)
1 onion -- finely chopped (Gene's, US$0.23)
2 cloves garlic -- finely chopped (N/A)
2 small jars marinated artichoke hearts (Gene's, US$4.98)

"High-end" ingredients we
"Shredded" mozzarella; I splurged for "craft-made" miniballs by a local
producer that supplies Gene's. It forced me to shred it in my Cuisinart.
Cara Mia marinated artichoke hearts. SWMBO won't eat anything less.
Parmesan cheese; I guess you could call this ingredient "high-end," too,
since I don't use that green-packaged tube stuff.

As I said earlier; I never got a chance to eat any because the gloms
that were near it never shared the bowl. My lot in Real Life®; simple
suffering. I'll just have to make it again.

Did you get that recipe from FoodTV? My daughter makes an
almost identical dip that she got from there.... she says
she takes it to parties and it's "scarfed" up immediately.
The biggest difference between hers and yours is that hers
is served hot.

This recipe came from a long-ago post to RFC. I researched it back to its
original poster (John Bilos 12/21/1989), and have included that info in the
recipe. The dip is served hot.

I have one that uses Swiss instead of Mozza - otherwise it is exactly
the same. It's to-die-for, and I don't really even like Swiss.
