How about: Report the problem to Google and quit using the beta.

Umm.....when I type in http://groups.google.com I get the Beta version
on occasion, not all he time. When I type in http://www.google.com and
click on groups I sometimes get the beta version, sometimes get the
original version. I don't have an option of "quit using the beta" it
seems.

Google sux as a news reader unless you're willing to wait 24
hours for a reply, but it's fine for finding archived
articles.

Agreed. I'm glad that, during my occasional bouts of insomnia, I have
tended to post nearly all of my recipes (usually in one night). But boy,
was I glad I did after I lost my entire MasterCook cookbook. It's
gradually growing again, thanks to Google.
