I've had those. They look pretty but yes Graham, sweeter than I'd like
for a hamburger. Nothing horrible and I've had them that way before in
Hawaii, Australia and Japan. I found the sweetness distracting for my
own desires.

It's not that I object to sweeter breads, because in the right place
and time they can be very good. Just, not with a hamburger to me. That
said, if you took the sugar down to 2 TBSP, I think the rest would work
but it's more yeast than normal (Normal is 2 tsp or 10ml).

Those with say a soft pulled pork with somewhat sweet BBQ sauce, they
would probably be exceptionally good.

The other thing I might consider (maybe) is taking the milk down a bit.
Say 1/2 c then make it 1 c water. Milk breads are 'softer' and you may
find these a little too soft? It's a texture thing and would be driven
more by preferences.

Could be but then it would be a little low.

When I make hamburger buns for my son's family, I use the tangzhong method.
The recipe I have been using includes a small amount of sugar but even that
is unnecessary.

You should tell the seller that. "Sir, I just had your hamburger, but
I found the sweetness distracting for my own desires."

You don't need to put any sugar in bread. Oh wait, you're American.
Sugar away, dear.

It's a mystery but my guess is that it could be anything at all.
