Is it considered too much protein when serving beans with steak?

I was going to do baked beans with some tenderloin tonight but began
considering pasta instead.

If you like it, go for it. With steak I usually think of either a salad,
potato, or both.

I think of beans with ham, hot dogs. That's just me, whatever you like.

beans and steak sounds like a good chuck wagon meal to me. Go for it.

That depends on how hungry you are. For a good dinner, I've had a small
steak, pork n'beans (or green beans), potatoes, and a salad.

Beans are served with barbecued meats all the time.

Beans have plenty of carbs too.

How come you don't know this, troll?

Have the beans; eat a little less steak. You can use the leftovers
for another meal.

But, when you have grilled sausage that you slice up and put in lima bean or pea soup, its damn difficult to cut down.

With grilled steak I prefer 3 bean salad (marinated beans), as many
types of canned beans as you have on hand.

Yes, green, yellow, kidney, lima, the more the better. Except, no
garbanzos

I like garbanzos but they are easy to omit. I like garbanzos spiced

Grandma used to make sour lima beans often. Just
oil/vinegar/salt/pepper and beans. I miss eating those... I think I
have a bag of small lima beans in the pantry.

I never thought of that. I'm going to have to try that. I often do a
can of kidney beans, some sliced onion, minced garlic, salt and
pepper. I can stop there, but sometimes I add chunks of fresh tomato
Then I add plenty of vinegar and oil (your choice) and let the beans
and tomatoes sit for an hour or two.
The onion in this dish is meant to be a part of the eating, not just
the seasoning.

i like beans and would be ok eating them with steak but
i'd rather have a salad or something else lighter to go with
it.

pasta and steak? nope. not my thing really. which is really
funny as i don't mind goulash or spaghetti and meatballs and
other combinations.

overall though, i just do not eat that much these days so a
good steak and some greens are plenty enough for me.

well... boy, I could really go for some actual food right about now. I

you can have real food. How about mashed potatoes? Or, I'll bet you
coould cook up some noodles with butter. Canned soup? tapioca and
various puddings are available in little cups at the supermarket..

Mmm. Steak and pasta with butter/basil/garlic/Parm. Just a small
serving of each, preceded by a big salad.

Pintos and ground beef *in* the big salad is great, too. Add salsa and cheese, of course.

My favorite steak dinners are med-rare steak, with or without mushrooms
and onions, deep fried and heavily salted and peppered shoestring fries,
and a pile of fresh corn.

Our shallots are going crazy this year. We could make a nice shallot soup.

I did boil and mash 2 potatoes late last night. Normally I get lazy and
mash into chunks with butter. This time I whipped it with some milk.
Still sore, but getting better slowly. The trouble I'm having is
swollen cheeks. I tend to bite them a lot when chewing or talking.

My younger brother and I share a birthday, and my dad invited us over
tomorrow. I'm sure I'll manage cake and ice cream... lol
