Not a problem. Falls at any age can be dangerous.

I worked with a man who was about 50 who slipped, fell and hit his head
on his way into the office. He said he was fine, went on to work. The
next morning his wife said he was completely disoriented. He was rushed
to the hospital. Turns out the "minor" head injury in the fall caused a
subdural hemotoma. He died.

But they're not as bad when you're drunk. Sober people try and
break their falls and usually just cause more damage. It's better to
fall when you're all floppy-like.

Of course we all know that "rehab facility" is an ALCOHOL rehab
facility, so his wife will be making him do the requisite 90 AA
meetings in 90 days. More boobs.

He's lucky. If it was a mental rehab facility, he'd never come home.

Thanks for the update and so glad he's been taking physical therapy. So many people
think they'll be just fine without it or "once I'm home I'll mend quickly."

Sadly, that's true many times, others just want to get home.

One of the maintenance men at work had a stroke many years ago. "I gotta get
home, I gotta get back to work." He had/has great insurance but his refusal to
remain in the hospital and then go for physical therapy has left him a terrible cripple.
That's not to say the therapy would have corrected his immediate disability but there's
nothing that can be done for him now.

He needs to ask his doctor if he can have therapy. It isn't my
understanding of Medicare that he can't.
I get authorized by my doctor at least once a year for some sort of
therapy for one ouchie or or another. I forget how many weeks
Medicare will go for, probably a couple times a year. No cost to me.

Popeye could get treated at the VA.

If he served over three years, he qualifies. I know, because I did.

But they won't allow him to **** all the nurses.

We had a pretty damned good health care system here, but physiotherapy
is not always covered. From what I understand, if a doctor prescribes it
and refers you to the hospital it is covered by the government. I have
extended health care and if the doctor prescribes it I am covered by my
extended health care to a limit. If you have to pay for it yourself...
well, it's pretty damned expensive.

When I was on workman's compensation it was totally covered. When I was
prescribe physio for tennis elbow I had to pay and then apply to the
insurance company for reimbursement. It sure wasn't cheap.

This stroke was about 15-20 years ago, the damage has been done, and
nothing can help him now.

The doctors and nurses begged him to stay and receive therapy
but he refused. Company insurance would have paid for that.
