Default Immersion blender

I need to buy a immersion blender for a Christmas gift. What's the best one I
can get for around $20.00? Power and durability are more important than the
number of attachments.

Braun sells one w/ no attachments for about $20.

I love my new Braun stick blender. I went in our neighborhood hardware store
and asked, He ordered one for me and I picked it up in a few days. Works great.

I did a piece on several of them. The Braun is the clear winner. The
GE was the worst. The fancy-dancy Big Name ones were ok. The only one
better than the Braun that I found was the Thunderstick from
late-night infomercials and it's a monster.

Braun, absolutely. I was lucky enough to get mine on a special at Sam's
Club a couple of years ago, for $14 with attachments. The little food
chopper/processor attachment is worth its weight in gold for smaller jobs,
while my Cuisinart remains unused for small quantities. I haven't tried the
whisk, but I'm sure it's A-OK.
